Established in 1931, the University of Tampa is a private university stationed in the downtown Tampa area. Frederic H. Spaulding, who previously served the Hillsborough High School, founded the university to offer local students a chance at higher education. The university’s Plant Hall currently stands where the famous Tampa Bay Hotel used to be.
The university offers more than 200 academic programs, including accounting, animation, finance, history, and more. Biology, marketing, and marine science are among the most popular programs offered at this school.
University of South Florida

Frequently referred to as USF, the University of South Florida is the fourth largest public university in Florida. Originally founded in 1956, Samuel Gibbons played a key role in the school’s creation during his tenure as a United States Representative. An interesting fact about the school is that it was built at the former Hillsborough Army Airfield, specifically where a practice bombing range functioned during World War II.
At this point in time, students can choose from 180 undergraduate majors and degree programs at USF. Some of the programs include accounting, medical sciences, physics, music, and more.

Established in 2001, the Southern Technical College is a private university stationed in seven cities across Florida, including Tampa. The school was founded with the idea to combine the teaching techniques of business, design, and health in a unified, professional environment. Students are encouraged to pursue programs that pique their interest, and the faculty provides everything they will need to do well.
Some of the notable degrees offers at this college include medical assisting, network engineering, nursing, and management. The staff is dedicated to offering students the tools they need to succeed, including assistance with financial aid and academic support.

Founded in 1968, the Hillsborough Community College is the second-to-last community college built in the state of Florida. The campus is spread across five major cities in the state, with the Dale Mabry campus being the closest to our communities. In fact, it is on the same street as our Landings at Cypress Meadows community.
Academics offered at this community college include business, computer programming, digital media, law enforcement, philosophy, and more. Faculty members will be more than happy to help students with any issues they are dealing with during their studies.
